Welcome to the Office for Carers website. 

  • The Hon Jennifer Rankine, Minister for Families and Communities (DFC), is the lead Minister for implementing the SA Carers Recognition Act 2005 and DFC is the responsible government department.
  • The Carers Policy and Carers Charter have been developed in collaboration with carers.
  • The Carers Recognition Act was proclaimed on 1 December 2005. This Act requires appropriate recognition and involvement of families and caregivers in their caring role.
